DETAIL INFORMATION

Manufacturer: ECOCULTURE RPE

Chrysoperla carnea - is a general predator whose larvae feed on aphids, mealybugs, thrips, herbivorous mites, small caterpillars and eggs of various Lepidoptera species. While adults are not predators and feed on honeydew and plant nectar, larvae are voracious predators capable of eating up to 50 aphids per day, which makes it advisable to introduce them into pest foci. In the choice of food object, the lacewing shows selectivity, preferring to feed on aphids, secondarily on thrips, butterfly eggs, and only then on other small arthropods. It is noteworthy that Chrysoperla carnea can easily tolerate heat, being active in a wide temperature range (from 12 to 35 ° C) and in unstable humidity, since the activity of this species depends little on air humidity. Usually lacewing is used together with parasitoid wasps, while the larvae can eat aphids already infested by the wasp.
