The effectiveness of the disinfectant depends on the dosage used and the time of action. A concentration of 1% is recommended for pre-cleaned surfaces.
Amount of water: Water is a carrier. It allows the active ingredient to come into contact with the infection. For this reason, it is always recommended to use a high volume spray technique when using disinfectant products.
Required amount of water:
Growing on tables: 0.2 L/m2
Tables with irrigation mats: 2 l/m2
Glass greenhouses and machines: 0.6 - 0.8 l/m2
Empty greenhouses: 1,500 to 2,000 l/ha.

Menno Florades is a powerful disinfectant based on benzoic acid, which is very effective against bacteria, fungi, viruses and viroids. The product is specially formulated for horticulture and has therefore been specially tested for its effect on pathogens. The active ingredient benzoic acid is the only authorized disinfectant for horticulture in the EU. It is a versatile product that can be used to disinfect greenhouse surfaces, growing tables, containers, equipment, etc.
Active ingredient: benzoic acid is a natural component in many fruits and vegetables. It is used as a food additive to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi. (For example, in jam, beer, sauces, fruit juice, peanut butter, syrups, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.) Benzoic acid is also an ingredient in cosmetics and in medicinal creams.

Persistence: One of the most important properties of Menno Florades is its persistence. Unlike other disinfectant products, benzoic acid remains effective over a long period of time, allowing even the most resistant dormant spores to be controlled. The effectiveness of Menno Florades has been confirmed in numerous research studies. When using a higher concentration of the product, the time required for disinfection becomes shorter. At a concentration of 3%, most pathogens are destroyed in about an hour. Some fungi are killed within minutes.
Efficacy:
The effectiveness of the product can be measured with the pH of the solution. When the pH value is between 3.0 and 4.5, the solution is active. This can easily be checked with pH indicator paper or a pH meter. The pH value will reach the proper level automatically (depending on the quality of the water) during the preparation of the solution. If the pH reaches a value higher than 4.5, the pH level can be reduced by adding Menno Florades. However, when the product is heavily contaminated with organic matter, it is advisable to prepare a new solution.
In a number of scientific studies, Menno Florades has proven effective against most of the bacteria, fungi, and viruses that cause problems in crop production. In many cases, fungi contain generative and vegetative spores. Vegetative spores are relatively easy to control. Menno Florades is also able to inhibit the activity of generative spores (resting spores).
Authorization: Benzoic acid as an active ingredient is included in Annex VI of EC 91/414. Menno Florades and is approved in the United Kingdom as a plant protection product, and is a disinfectant against all bacteria, fungi (including dormant spores), viruses and viroids.
Precautions: Closed greenhouses and closed screens pose an increased risk to plants. To prevent possible risks, it is best to ventilate the greenhouse before planting. This is also important when using Menno Florades, especially when growing cucumbers. Avoid direct contact with the plants. Menno Florades may irritate the mucosa of the eyes. Always wear protective clothing and face shields when applying the product.
